TALLAHASSEE, FL --The Florida A&M Rattlers took a 3-2 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 10-2 victory against the Alabama State Hornets on Friday.
Senior Caleb Granger (5-2) started on the mound and picked up the win for Florida A&M (13-17, 8-2). The right-hander went 6.1 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on six hits, allowing three walks and striking out four. Senior Andrew Ginther also made an impact on the mound for the Rattlers, throwing 2.2 shutout innings while allowing two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board.
The Rattlers then held the Hornets scoreless before expanding their lead in the third inning. Florida A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a senior Adam Haidermota, which brought the Rattlers lead to 6-2.
Florida A&M held Alabama State without a run before expanding their lead to 7-2 the following inning. The Rattlers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Ty Jackson.
Florida A&M kept the Hornets scoreless before building on their lead in the seventh inning. The three-run fram for the Rattlers was puncuated by a two-run single off the bat of sophomore Jordan . bringing the Florida A&M advantage to 10-2.
