Hughes dominant for Florida A&M in shutout victory over Mississippi Valley State

ITTA BENA, Miss. -- Freshman Zoryana Hughes was dealing on Friday, hurling a shutout to lead the Florida A&M Rattlers past the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devilettes 4-0.

Hughes (12-2) went the distance for Florida A&M (20-17, 16-4), giving up six hits, walking one and striking out five.

In the batter's box, the Rattlers were led by senior Nyah Morgan, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a triple and an RBI. Senior Mia Blasingane put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Freshman Tiarra Edwards also contributed for Florida A&M, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. Florida A&M scratched across a run off freshman Maya Rameriez when Morgan tripled in junior Tatianna Davis.

The Rattlers then tacked on runs in the third, fourth, and seventh innings, with their biggest output coming in the seventh when they scored one time. That run came across on an RBI single off the bat of Edwards.
