Rattlers pick up an 8-3 win against Jackson State

TALLAHASSEE, FL --Florida A&M got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Rattlers put eight runs on the board and knock off the Jackson State Tigers 8-3 Friday.

Freshman Carson Kelly (2-1) got the win for Florida A&M (11-16, 6-2). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing no walks and striking out five.

In the batter's box, the Rattlers were led by senior Sebastian Greico, who went 3-for-5 on the day with two RBI. Sophomore Broedy Poppell furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and three RBI. Junior Jakoby Stanley also helped out for Florida A&M, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding two walks and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Senior Ty Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M and get them on the board.

The Tigers failed to push any runs across before the Rattlers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Florida A&M managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Rattlers.

Florida A&M kept Jackson State scoreless before building their lead to 8-0 in the fourth inning. The Rattlers bats heated up in the inning, scoring five runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Poppell. Jackson State put three runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Florida A&M still coasted to the 8-3 win.
