Baseball completes the sweep with an 11-1 win against Jackson State

TALLAHASSEE, FL --Senior True Fontenot collected four RBIs to help propel the Florida A&M Rattlers past the Jackson State Tigers 11-1 on Saturday.

Junior Jacob Granger (2-1) got the win for Florida A&M (12-16, 7-2). The right-hander went five innings, giving up one run on seven hits, allowing two walks and striking out five. Junior Tanner Walker also pitched well, going two shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out two.

Fontenot went 3-for-4 with a home run in addition to his four RBIs for the Rattlers. Junior Jakoby Stanley compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Junior Janmikell Bastardo also chipped in for Florida A&M, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double, a triple and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers were trailing 1-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Florida A&M scored twice in the inning, including one on a solo shot from Stanley.

The Rattlers then held the Tigers scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Florida A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Jalen Niles, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Rattlers.

Florida A&M held Jackson State without a run before building their lead to 7-1 in the fifth inning. The Rattlers bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Fontenot.

Florida A&M held the Tigers scoreless before their offense got things rolling the next inning. The Rattlers drove in two runs when a single from senior Sebastian Greico scored senior Adam Haidermota and Bastardo, bringing the Florida A&M advantage to 9-1.

The Rattlers held Jackson State off the board before expanding their lead to 11-1 the following inning. Florida A&M brought home a pair, with one run driven in by Stanley's single. The score remained 11-1 for the rest of the game, as the Rattlers coasted to the win.
