TAMPA, Fla. --An explosive offensive output was not enough for Florida A&M on Wednesday. The Rattlers tallied six runs, but could not hold the South Florida Bulls at bay, and were defeated 9-6.
Senior Dallas Tease (0-3) got the ball to start for Florida A&M (8-13) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Florida A&M scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of junior Janmikell Bastardo.
The Bulls then rallied to score five runs and take a 5-3 lead before the Rattlers got back on the board in the sixth. Senior Joseph Pierini came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M, which brought the score to 5-4 in favor of the Bulls.
South Florida expanded their lead to 9-4 before the Florida A&M offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 9-6 in the ninth. The ballgame ended with that ninth inning rally falling short.
