Rattlers fall to Grambling 65-54

GRAMBLING, LA --Olivia Delancy and Nashani Gilbert combined to score 34 total points - 63 percent of Florida A&M's points - but the Rattlers fell to the Grambling Tigers 65-54 on the road Saturday.

Delancy led the Rattlers (8-19, 7-9) with 24 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Gilbert tacked on a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Ahriahna Grizzle chipped in as well with six points.

Gilbert pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Florida A&M, grabbing 24 boards and turning them into 10 second chance points.

The Florida A&M defense held Grambling shooters to just 30.4 percent from the field, including 25 percent from three-point range.

How It Happened

After falling behind 14-8, Florida A&M went on a 6-0 run with 3:33 left in the first quarter to tie the game at 14. Grambling then pulled ahead, sending the Rattlers into the second quarter down 16-14.

The Rattlers fought back in the second period, narrowing the deficit to 34-33 by the time halftime rolled around.

Florida A&M's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Rattlers faced a 50-45 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Florida A&M played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 12 points in the paint.

Florida A&M could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 65-54. Florida A&M took advantage of five Grambling turnovers in the quarter, scoring six points off of those takeaways.
