Florida A&M comes up 1 run short in loss to Grambling

GAME 2 | Grambling 3, Florida A&M 2
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. --Grambling's one-run first proved to be the difference in the ballgame, as the Florida A&M Rattlers lost a heartbreaker to the Tigers by the score of 3-2 on Saturday.

Senior Tre Simmons (1-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Florida A&M (5-6). Junior Jacob Granger was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going four shutout innings while allowing four hits, walking none and striking out four.

Freshman Joseph Pierini led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Florida A&M got on the board thanks to Pierini's RBI double with two outs.

The Rattlers deficit expanded to 3-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the sixth inning. Freshman Broedy Poppell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M, which tightened the Tigers lead to 3-2. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
