Florida A&M defeats Alabama A&M 15-5

HUNTSVILLE, AL --Senior Ty Jackson racked up four hits to help lead the Florida A&M Rattlers over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 15-5 on Sunday.

Carson Kelly (1-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Florida A&M (8-12, 3-0). The right-hander went four shutout innings while giving up two hits, allowing two walks and striking out one. Senior Grant Harrison also made an impact on the mound for the Rattlers, throwing one shutout inning while allowing one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.

In addition to his four hits, Jackson had a double, a triple and three RBI to lead the Rattlers. Senior Sebastian Greico put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two walks and two RBI. Junior Janmikell Bastardo also contributed for Florida A&M, putting together three hits in six trips to the plate while adding three RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Florida A&M's offense started clicking and put up eight runs, including a three-run triple off the bat of Jackson.

The Rattlers then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the third inning after the Bulldogs cut it to 8-4. Florida A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-RBI double from Brody Poppell, which brought the Rattlers lead to 11-4.

Alabama A&M narrowed Florida A&M's lead to 11-5 before the Rattlers stretched the advantage to 12-5 in the fifth inning. The Rattlers recorded a run on Greico's two-out solo home run off senior A. McCready.

Florida A&M held the Bulldogs scoreless before building on their lead in the ninth inning. The three-run frame for the Rattlers was punctuated by a two-run single off the bat of Bastardo. bringing the Florida A&M advantage to 15-5. The score remained 15-5 for the rest of the game, as the Rattlers coasted to the win.
