Bastardo hits for the cycle in Florida A&M's 11-1 win against Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, AL --Junior Janmikell Bastardo put together a brilliant outing at the plate Saturday, hitting for the cycle to help lead the Florida A&M Rattlers over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 11-1.

Senior Caleb Granger (3-1) got the win for Florida A&M (6-12, 1-0). The right-hander went eight innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out six.

Bastardo completed his cycle in five at-bats, driving in one run along the way. Senior Ty Jackson supplemented Bastardo's historic day by going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI. Bastardo also helped out for the Rattlers, going 4-for-5 for Florida A&M with a double, a triple, a home run and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Florida A&M scored two runs on solo shots from senior Adam Haidermota and Jackson.

The Bulldogs failed to push any runs across before the Rattlers built on their lead in the fifth inning. Florida A&M pushed across a run on senior Sebastian Greico's two-out RBI double, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Rattlers.

Florida A&M kept Alabama A&M scoreless before building their lead to 5-1 the following inning. The Rattlers added two to their tally on Ben Kim's two-run homer.

Florida A&M held the Bulldogs scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Rattlers picked up a run on Bastardo's one-out solo home run off junior E. Hurlburt, bringing the Florida A&M advantage to 6-1.

The Rattlers kept Alabama A&M scoreless before expanding their lead to 11-1 the following inning. Florida A&M hit two home runs in the inning on the way to pushing five runs across. The score remained 11-1 for the rest of the game, as the Rattlers coasted to the win.
