Florida A&M out-hits Mercer 9-8, but falls 8-5

MACON, Ga. --Despite picking up nine hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Mercer, Florida A&M was unable to push across more runs, as the Rattlers lost to the Bears 8-5 Wednesday.

Freshman Blake Pacheco (0-1) got the ball to start for Florida A&M (4-5) and took the loss. Senior Grant Harrison was a bright spot for the Rattlers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one shutout inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Freshman Josue Figueroa led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run and two RBI. Senior Adam Haidermota provided a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-1 with a home run and an RBI. Senior True Fontenot also chipped in, going 2-for-5 for Florida A&M with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers were trailing 7-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Florida A&M scored twice, with one run coming across on sophomore Jordan 's single.

The Bears expanded their lead to 8-2 before the Rattlers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the eighth. Florida A&M scored three times, with an output that included home runs from both Haidermota and Figueroa, which brought the score to 8-5 in favor of the Bears. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
