Big games from Grizzle, not enough in Florida A&M's 65-43 loss to Alabama A&M

TALLAHASSEE, FL --Ahriahna Grizzle, Sydney Hendrix and Olivia Delancy combined to score 33 of Florida A&M's 43 total points, but the Rattlers fell to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 65-43 at home Monday.

Grizzle led the Rattlers (8-18, 7-8) with 15 points and three steals. Hendrix added 10 points and two steals off of the bench and Delancy chipped in as well with eight points, six rebounds and three steals.

Ivet Subirats pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Florida A&M, grabbing 16 boards and turning them into 10 second chance points.

The Florida A&M defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Monday's game, forcing 19 Alabama A&M turnovers while committing 16. Those takeaways turned into 12 points on the other end of the floor. Delancy's three steals led the way individually for the Rattlers.

Florida A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 17-10 at the end of the first quarter.

The Rattlers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 31-22 halftime deficit.

Florida A&M's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Rattlers faced a 51-33 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Florida A&M played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 11 points in the paint.

Florida A&M could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 65-43. Florida A&M took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring eight of its 10 points in the paint.
