Florida A&M plates 8 runs in win over Alcorn State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --It was a tough day for Alcorn State pitchers, as the Florida A&M Rattlers plated eight runs en route to an 8-2 victory over the Lady Braves on Friday.

Junior Samantha Smith (1-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Florida A&M (1-11). The right-hander went 4.2 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on one hit. Freshman Zoryana Hughes also made an impact in the circle for the Rattlers, starting the ballgame and throwing 2.1 scoreless innings while allowing two hits, with no walks and four strikeouts.

Sophomore Kayla Aldridge led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 1-for-1 in the ballgame with two RBI. Freshman Monroe Oglesby put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Junior Kayla Alexandre also contributed, going 1-for-3 for Florida A&M with a double and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
