Rattlers drop road game at Prairie View A&M 31-12

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas –– Florida A&M fell to Prairie View A&M 31-12 in a tough road loss at Panther Stadium. The Rattlers' offense faced adversity early when starting quarterback Daniel Richardson left the game in the first quarter due to injury after completing 8 of 13 passes for 58 yards. Junior Muratovic stepped in and finished 16 of 29 for 150 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

The Rattlers kept it close early, trailing just 10-3 after the first quarter thanks to Cameron Gillis' 41-yard field goal. However, Prairie View extended their lead to 17-3 by halftime following an interception return.

FAMU showed life in the third quarter, mounting their best offensive stretch. Gillis added another field goal from 28 yards out, and Muratovic connected with Jamari Gassett for a 7-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 17-12. However, the two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

The running game was a bright spot for the Rattlers, led by Levontai Summersett's impressive 87 yards on just nine carries, including an explosive 57-yard run. Thad Franklin Jr. added 35 yards on five carries.

Defensively, the Rattlers struggled to contain Prairie View's ground game in the fourth quarter, surrendering two rushing touchdowns to Lamagea McDowell that put the game out of reach. Jameel Sanders led the defensive effort with six tackles and the team's only sack, while Corey Collier Jr. recorded an interception.

The loss drops Florida A&M to 5-4 overall (3-2 in conference play). The Rattlers will look to bounce back from this setback and get their offense back on track in their next contest as they return to Bragg to play Mississippi Valley on November 16 at 1 p.m. Eastern.
