HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Nov. 3) | The Florida A&M volleyball team defeated Alabama A&M, 3-0 (25-11, 27-25, 25-16), Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
The Rattlers have recorded 16 straight-set wins this year, including 11 against SWAC opponents.
MATCH NOTES
- In the victory, FAMU improved to 21-6, 13-0 in the SWAC.
- Iyonnie Sanford recorded 10 kills, leading the Rattler offense for the fourth consecutive match.
- Brooke Lynn Watts recorded a match-high 11 digs with seven kills.
- Makenzie Taylor added a match-high 20 assists.
- FAMU is one of 13 teams in the nation currently unbeaten in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE | The Rattlers ran away from Alabama A&M pretty quickly, commanding a 10-point lead not even 20 minutes into the match.
SET TWO | FAMU was down by as many as six, before
Bryshanna Brown served up a clutch ace to tie things at 21-all. The Bulldogs had an opportunity to close out the set at 24-22; however, back-to-back attacking errors evened the score. A&M's miscues also helped the Rattlers to the set win after the 25-all deadlock.
SET THREE |Florida A&M broke the 5-5 tie with five consecutive points and padded its lead from there.
UP NEXT
The Rattlers will visit Daytona Beach on Friday to take on in-state rival Bethune-Cookman. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
