O'Neal and Matthews lead Florida A&M over Trinity Baptist 110-68

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– Florida A&M dominated Trinity Baptist in a convincing 110-68 victory at the Al Lawson Center on Friday night, led by career performances from multiple players. Shaqir O'Neal posted a career-high 26 points on efficient 9-of-16 shooting, including four three-pointers, while adding nine rebounds and four blocks in his breakout performance.

The Rattlers (1-4) got off to a blistering start, opening the game on a 9-0 run and never looked back. Sterling Young also notched a career-high with 17 points off the bench, going 5-of-10 from the field with three 3-pointers. Milton Matthews continued the scoring parade with a Division I career-high 21 points, including five makes from beyond the arc.

FAMU's offense was clicking on all cylinders, shooting a scorching 53.4% from the field and 43.6% from three-point range, knocking down 17 triples on the night. The Rattlers' bench provided a significant spark, outscoring Trinity Baptist'sreserves 49-20.

Defensively, Florida A&M controlled the glass with a 47-39 rebounding advantage and forced 14 turnovers. The Rattlers built a commanding 61-30 halftime lead and maintained their intensity throughout the second half.

Xavier Roser led Trinity Baptist with 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting in the loss.

The victory marked Florida A&M's first win of the season as they look to build momentum heading into their next contest at Clemson.
