TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Brooke Lynn Thomas, Brookelynn Watts, and
Iyonnie Sanford each finished with double-digit kills in the Florida A&M volleyball team's 3-0 win (25-15, 25-18, 25-18) over Alabama A&M Sunday (Oct. 6).
Florida A&M continues its four-match homestand this Wednesday with in-state rival Bethune-Cookman. Action is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
GAME NOTES
- In the win, FAMU (12-5) improved to 4-0 in SWAC action and 6-0 at home
- The decision marked the Rattlers' eighth sweep of the season
- Three finished in double-digit kills: Thomas (14), Watts (13), and Sanford (10)
- Watts also recorded a double-double with 11 digs
- Kalia Todd added a match-high five blocks
- Alexandra Koleva tallied a match-high 33 assists
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE | Iyonnie Sanford recorded the Rattlers' first kill of the match, and the 3-2 edge quickly grew to 12-6. They never trailed again, working six consecutive points towards the end of the set.
FAMU finished the frame with a .429 percent hitting clip.
SET TWO | The Bulldogs recorded the first point of the set, but FAMU responded with the next six. A Watts kill cemented the team's largest lead of the set at 15-5.
SET THREE | Florida A&M led from the very first point.
