Sweep to keep the Streaks

Rattler volleyball is still undefeated at home and in the SWAC.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Oct. 4) | Both the Florida A&M and Alabama State volleyball teams stepped into the Al Lawson Center undefeated in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, but only the Rattlers left that way.

FAMU (11-5) not only improved to 3-0 in conference competition, but it also kept its home streak intact (5-0). The decision captured the team's seventh straight-set victory of the season (25-16, 25-11, 25-23).

GAME NOTES

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET ONE | On top for most of the set, a Koleva ace provided the Rattlers an early 12-6 lead. Watts recorded five of the 12 FAMU kills during the set.

SET TWO | The Rattlers opened the second frame with a 6-1 advantage, crowned by a kill by Farah Farooq. ASU pressured to even the score at 9-9 before yielding eight straight points. FAMU recorded eight blocks during the set.

SET THREE | Florida A&M faced an early 10-4 deficit that wasn't too much to overcome. Watts' 10th kill of the night evened the score at 12-all. There were five additional ties – the final at 19-all – before the Rattlers recorded back-to-back points on an Isis Williams kill and Tinons Galmés ace.

FAMU's homestand continues Sunday – Alabama State will visit the Al Lawson Center at 1 p.m.
