TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Oct. 28) | There are 17 teams currently undefeated in conference play, and Florida A&M (19-6, 11-0) is one of them. The Rattlers have recorded 15 straight-set wins this season, including nine straight against Southwestern Athletic Conference opponents – Grambling State was the latest to fall (25-18, 25-17, 25-16).
GAME NOTES
- With a record of 11-0, FAMU sits atop the SWAC standings as the only undefeated team.
- The Rattlers also remain unbeaten at home (11-0).
- Iyonnie Sanford recorded a match-high 11 kills with five digs and three assisted blocks.
- Milana Thornton finished with a season-high eight kills.
- Makenzie Taylor added a match-high 22 assists while Tinons Galmés added a match-high 24 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE | With three kills and a service ace,
Brooke Lynn Watts' name was written all over the Rattlers' 6-1 lead. FAMU never fell behind, despite ties at 8-8, 9-9, and 15-15.
The final stalemate preceded a 5-0 Rattler run that included back-to-back kills by Thornton.
Grambling State was limited to five kills and a .069 hitting percentage.
SET TWO | The score was tied at 3-3 before the Rattlers embarked on a 9-1 run. They continued to pad their lead from there.
SET THREE | The Tigers held their last lead of the set at 3-2.
NEXT
The Rattlers are off to Alabama for matches at Alabama State (Friday) and Alabama A&M (Sunday).
