How It Happened

After jumping out to a 4-3 advantage, Florida A&M went on a 5-0 run with 8:12 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Brennen, to increase its lead to 9-3. The Rattlers then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 14-9 advantage. Florida A&M relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down two shots to account for six of its 14 points.

The Rattlers surrendered their lead in the second quarter and entered halftime with the score tied 24-24. Florida A&M dominated in the paint, scoring 10 of its 10 points close to the basket.

After intermission, Mississippi Valley State snatched a 31-26 lead before Florida A&M answered back by going on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Grizzle, to tie things up at 31 with 6:28 to go in the third. The Rattlers could not advance their rally further as the Delta Devils took a 42-40 lead into the fourth quarter. Florida A&M played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 16 points in the paint.

Florida A&M kept the Delta Devils from increasing their lead before going on a 10-0 run, finished off by Subirats' layup, to seize a 52-44 lead with 4:33 to go in the contest. The Delta Devils narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Rattlers still cruised the rest of the way for the 62-55 win.
