2023 Baseball All-SWAC Honors

Rattlers earned five All-SWAC honors, tied for most with Alabama State

ATLANTA, Ga. –– Florida A&M Baseball leads the way with the Alabama State Hornets, as each team had five All-SWAC honorees. The Rattlers improved from last season after having only two named to the All-SWAC teams.
 
The Rattlers were led by Ty Hanchey, the lone Rattler to make the All-SWAC First Team. Hunter Viets earned his second straight All-SWAC honor after being named All-SWAC Second Team in 2022. Transfers Sebastian Greico, Ty Jackson, and Janmikell Bastardo were the other Rattlers to make the All-SWAC Second Team.
 
Ty Hanchey | Catcher | All-SWAC First Team
 
Hanchey finished the season ranked top-25 in the SWAC (overall season) in ten categories:
 
• RBI (19th, 43)
• Walks (15th, 32)
• Batting Average (14th, .354)
• Hits (13th, 64)
• Slugging Percentage (12th, .591)
• On Base Percentage (11th, ,.462)
• Runs Scored (10th, 50)
• OPS (9th, 1.053)
• Home Runs (9th, 9)
• Triples (3rd, 5). 
 
Hunter Viets | Pitcher | All-SWAC Second Team
 
Viets finished the season ranked top-25 in the SWAC (overall season) in seven categories:

• Strikeouts (10th, 68)
• Wins (6th, 6)
• Opponent Batting Average (5th, .251)
• ER (3rd, 25)
• ERA (2nd, 3.13)
• Walks Allowed (2nd, 15)
 
Ty Jackson | Outfielder | All-SWAC Second Team
 
Jackson finished the season ranked top-25 in the SWAC (overall season) in eight categories:
