Rattlers win 12-3 over Jackson State in game one of doubleheader

TALLAHASSEE, Fl --Junior Ty Jackson put together a brilliant performance at the plate Friday, hitting two homers to help lead the Florida A&M Rattlers over the Jackson State Tigers 12-3.

Sophomore Caleb Granger (4-2) started on the mound and picked up the win for Florida A&M (14-17, ). The right-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out six. Junior Tre Simmons also made an impact on the mound for the Rattlers, throwing one shutout inning while allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.

Jackson went 2-for-4 at the plate, supplementing his two home runs with four RBIs. Junior Sebastian Greico added to Jackson's awesome power-hitting performance by going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and six RBI. Junior Joseph Pierini also chipped in for the Rattlers, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the first inning. Florida A&M scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Greico.

The Rattlers then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the second inning after the Tigers cut it to 3-2. Florida A&M hit two home runs in the inning on the way to pushing four runs aross. which brought the Rattlers lead to 7-2.

Jackson State narrowed Florida A&M's lead to 7-3 before the Rattlers stretched the advantage to 12-3 in the fourth inning. The Rattlers hit two home runs in the inning on the way to scoring five runs. The score remained 12-3 for the rest of the game, as Florida A&M coasted to the win.
