DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --The Florida A&M Rattlers had a tough showing on Saturday, falling to the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 9-2 despite the efforts of senior Ty Hanchey, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Sophomore Caleb Granger (3-2) got the ball to start for Florida A&M (13-14, 7-1) and took the loss. Junior Josh Scragg was a bright spot for the Rattlers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 1.1 shutout innings, allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
Hanchey led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a walk and an RBI. Junior Joseph Pierini put together a standout effort as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Senior Jared Weber also contributed, going 1-for-4 for Florida A&M with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers were trailing 9-0 in the eighth inning when they first put runs on the board. Florida A&M scored twice, with one run coming across on Weber's single. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
