HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –– Jordan Tillmon scored a career-high 22 points to help lead the Florida A&M men's basketball team past the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 77-71 on the road Monday.
Tillmon added five rebounds and three steals to his 22 point game to lead the Rattlers (7-19, 5-10). Dimingus Stevens went four of seven from three to add 17 points. Noah Meren helped out with 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals and Chase Barrs chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds and five blocks.
Florida A&M out-rebounded Alabama A&M 41-37 in Monday's game, led by 10 boards from Jaylen Bates.
Florida A&M did a great job disrupting Alabama A&M shots in the contest, coming away with 11 blocks. Barrs' five rejections led the way individually for the Rattlers.
How It Happened
After falling behind 9-4, Florida A&M went on a 9-0 run with 16:38 left in the first half to take a 13-9 lead. The Rattlers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 37-32.
After intermission, Florida A&M managed to gain control and had a 58-57 lead before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Tillmon's jumper, to grow the lead to 65-57 with 4:36 to go in the contest. The Bulldogs narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Rattlers still cruised the rest of the way for the 77-71 win. Florida A&M got out on the break in the period, scoring 14 fast break points.
