DETROIT, MI --The Florida A&M women's basketball team took a 57-54 advantage into the fourth quarter, but could not hang on and fell 72-66 to the Detroit Mercy Titans on the road Thursday.

The Rattlers (1-8) had two players score in double figures, led by Ahriahna Grizzle, who had 23 points. Nashani Gilbert added 11 points and Olivia Delancy added nine points and six steals.

Florida A&M forced 18 Detroit Mercy turnovers while committing 17 themselves in Thursday's game. The Rattlers turned those takeaways into 16 points on the offensive end of the floor. Delancy's six steals led the way for Florida A&M.

How It Happened

Florida A&M entered the second quarter tied at 23-23 after a tightly contested first period. Florida A&M did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 12 of its 23 points close to the basket.

The Titans then eked out an advantage in quarter number two as the Rattlers headed into the breaking trailing 35-34.

Following halftime, Florida A&M kept the Titans from growing their lead before going on an 8-0 run to grab a 46-39 lead with 5:26 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Titans had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Rattlers still entered the fourth quarter with a 57-54 edge. Florida A&M played well near the basket, scoring 14 of its 23 points in the paint.

Detroit Mercy then erased the Florida A&M lead in the game's final quarter for a 72-66 comeback victory. Florida A&M took advantage of five Detroit Mercy turnovers in the quarter, scoring three points off of those takeaways.
