How It Happened
SET ONE | It was only fitting that a senior (Emerald Jacobs) recorded the first kill/point of Senior Night. The Rattlers went on to lead by as many as six points (14-8) but saw their advantage shrunken to one (18-17) after Bethune-Cookman began to pressure. FAMU allowed its opponent just one more point in the set (a FAMU error) en route to the 25-18 win.
SET THREE | The Wildcats held an early lead – their first advantage the entire match – but Brooke Hudson evened the score with an ace. The score fell within an 8-0 rally that saw FAMU up, 10-5, at its end. Bethune-Cookman closed its deficit, tying things twice at 14 and 16, and later regained its edge with FAMU sitting at set point. Four unanswered points helped the Wildcats to a 25-24 advantage; the set required extra points and the visitors snapped Florida A&M's stretch of 17 consecutive set wins in the 28-26 decision.
SET FOUR | FAMU jumped out to an early 3-1 lead and maintained the upper hand the rest of the set.
