DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The Florida A&M volleyball team remained perfect on day one of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Cluster (Oct. 29), with back-to-back sweeps over Alcorn State (25-11, 25-9, 25-18) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (25-21, 25-20, 25-14).Â
In the latter match versus UAPB, Brooke Lynn Watts registered 14 kills and 11 digs – her ninth double-double of the season – while Emerald Jacobs further bolstered the FAMU attack with nine kills. Brooke Hudson notched 19 digs on the defensive end, and Isis Williams added three blocks.Â
How It Happened
SET 1 | Florida A&M trailed early but gained the final upper hand at 12-11; the set featured three lead changes before that point. Seventeen of FAMU's 25 points came via a kill. The Rattlers also supplemented their offense with three aces.Â
SET 2 | The second set was just as contentious as the first, with 10 ties and five lead changes; however, the Rattlers grabbed their lead for good at 15-14.
SET 3 | FAMU seized control of the set early, when the score was 3-2, and maintained its lead the rest of the way. The team led by as many as 11 points, 20-9, and totaled 17 kills in the frame while only committing two attack errors.Â
