Rattlers Sweep Competition in Second Round of SWAC Cluster

The Rattlers recorded three straight, straight-set wins against Alcorn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Grambling State.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Florida A&M volleyball (13-13, 9-4 SWAC) improved to .500 on the season Monday (Oct. 30) with its third straight sweep – a 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 victory against Grambling State. After posting back-to-back losses for the first time in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, the team left the second round of the SWAC Cluster with successes over Alcorn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Grambling. 
 
Brooke Lynn Watts helped the Rattlers take care of business with a team-high 11 kills and 10 digs versus GSU. Other statistical highlights saw Isis Williams record nine kills and two blocks, Brooke Hudson 22 digs, and Alexandra Koleva 27 assists. 
 
Game Notes
 

» Florida A&M had four players record double-digit digs: Hudson (22), Koleva (13), Emerald Jacobs (12), and Watts (10). 
» Brooke Hudson tallied a match-high three aces in the win.
» Brooke Lynn Watts registered a double-double – her second of the cluster – with 11 kills and 10 digs.
» Florida A&M led the first set from start to finish. 
» Florida A&M served up five aces on the way to a second-set victory.
 
How It Happened 
 
SET 1 | The Rattlers recorded the very first point of the set and never looked back en route to the 25-20 victory. They led by as many as six points, 21-15, collecting 16 kills along the way.
 
SET 2 | Strong serving helped the Rattlers earn the set-two victory. They totaled five aces in the frame, and ended it on a strong note with their largest lead. 
 
SET 3 | Florida A&M took control of the set early, when the score was 6-5, and cruised to victory from there.
