How It Happened

SET ONE | Jackson State pieced together a 13-9 lead early in the opening set; however, a 7-1 Rattler run allowed the home side to regain the upper hand at 16-14. The Rattlers cruised to a 25-20 win on the strength of a stellar offensive performance – 18 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.

SET TWO | There were seven ties at the start of the second frame, the final at 8-8. FAMU gained separation with back-to-back blocks and never trailed again. Watts has recorded double-digit kills in nine matches this season; her 10th pushed FAMU ahead, 15-11. Hudson also collected her historic dig in the second set.

SET THREE | The Rattlers were down by as many as six before striking for four unanswered points to tie things at 13-all. The Tigers broke the stalemate with a 6-2 run.

SET FOUR | Watts' 1,000th career kill earned their team a 3-2 advantage; back-and-forth scoring ensued, with neither team able to distance itself until the very end. The Rattlers took control for good at 20-19 and rode that advantage to victory.
