Coach Bryan Houston Returns to FAMU

9/29/2022 12:00:00 PM

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Bryan Houston, the husband of Rochelle Houston (FAMU's Director of Tennis), returns to Florida A&M University after pursuing his career in film.

Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, Bryan decided to further educate himself by attending Alabama State University and obtaining a bachelor's degree in theater arts. At Alabama State University, Houston was an All-American football player and ran track (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay). Being involved in sports aided in developing his passion for strength and conditioning.

Shortly after obtaining his degree, Houston pursued his athletic dreams of professional football by playing in the Canadian Football League and arena football. In 2007, Houston was the strength and conditioning coach at FAMU, overseeing most sports such as men's and women's track and field, tennis, cross country, women's volleyball, basketball, and more. In 2010, Coach Houston was encouraged to pursue the industry of theater and worked at the Florida State University Film School, where he began his journey working with great producers like Tyler Perry.

Unable to resist his passion for athletics, Coach Houston returned as the strength and conditioning trainer for the same sports he had in back in 2007-2010.

Coach Houston's quote is "The work is never done," which he instills in all his athletes.
