MOBILE, Ala. | The Florida A&M volleyball team saw its three-match winning spell come to an end in a 3-0 loss to Ole Miss Thursday (Sept. 15). Dominique Washington paced the Rattlers' offense with 11 kills, while Brooke Lynn Watts added eight.
They continue their appearance in the Jaguar Invitational Friday with play against Eastern Kentucky and South Alabama. The matches are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
Ole Miss 3, Florida A&M 0 (25-20, 25-11, 26-24)
After eying a slight disadvantage early in set one, the Rattlers gained their first lead on an Ole Miss service error. Their advantage grew to 13-10 on back-to-back points; however, while the teams remained on each other's hips, the Rebels pulled ahead for good with the help of a 3-0 run. There were four ties before the stretch, the last at 16-all.
Ole Miss concluded the set with a 10-4 rally and continued to pressure with 7-1 and 11-4 starts to the second and third. The latter captured one of FAMU's best scoring runs this season (15-6), for which it held a 19-17 edge at the end. Five ties ensued, and Ole Miss claimed the set 26-24 on back-to-back errors.
