Rattlers prepare for midweek matchup versus Jacksonville

Jacksonville, FL. | Florida A&M baseball (21-23, 15-6 SWAC) will be on the road to face Jacksonville University (22-18, 9-12 ASUN) tomorrow at 2 p.m. This is the second match-up of the season between the Rattlers and the Dolphins, with Jacksonville winning the first meeting 9-6 at Moore-Kittles on March 29.

The Last Time Out 

The Rattlers are coming off an 11-6 victory over Mississippi Valley State in the series finale Sunday (5/1) to sweep the series.

 

Scouting The Rattlers 

  • The Rattlers offense has been getting better throughout the season, bringing in 372 hits, 194 RBIs, 228 runs, 72 doubles, and 15 home runs. They also have a batting average of .267 and a slugging percentage of .383. The Rattlers have three different players with 20+ RBIs this season, as Grant Rowell (35), Adam Haidermota (22), and LJ Bryant (32) have driven in runs for the Rattlers.
  • The Rattlers also have one of the best pitching staffs in the league, ranking fifth in the SWAC with a team ERA of .576 and an opposing batting average of .304. They have given up 299 runs and have 356 strikeouts. DJ Wilkinson leads all pitchers with 63 strikeouts.


 Scouting The Dolphins 

  •  The Dolphins have a team batting average of .256 while having a .345 slugging percentage.
  • From a defensive side, the Dolphins allowed a batting average of .272 with 190 strikeouts.
  •  Christian Coipel has been the Dolphins' best hitter with a batting average of .345, 29 hits, 26 RBIs, and a slugging percentage of .679. Coipel leads the Dolphins in all four categories.
