BLOOMINGTON, Ind. | Jaylyn Scott, the fastest 400-meter hurdler in Florida A&M men's outdoor history, concluded his appearance in the NCAA East Track & Field Preliminary Friday (May 27). A few days prior, the senior from Bainbridge, Ga., posted a time of 51.53 to earn an automatic qualification to the quarterfinals, where he ran in at 51.70 (20th overall). The 'Top 12' in the 400-meter hurdle race advanced to the NCAA Championships.Â
Scott has represented FAMU in back-to-back NCAA outdoor meets. His decorated career also includes the following achievements:Â
2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference
- First place in the 400-meter hurdles (51.40) / outdoorsÂ
- Third place in the 400 (48.44) and 4x400 (3:16.91) / indoors
2021 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships
- 21st overall in the 400-meter hurdles (51.73) / outdoors
In addition to holding the school record in the 400H (50.36), Scott also managed seven career first-place wins in the event.Â
Rachel Robertson will be the next Rattler to take on the NCAA East Prelims. The start list has her scheduled to compete in the fourth flight of the women's triple jump, which starts Saturday at 6 p.m.Â
