Tallahassee, Fla. | Florida A&M baseball will host Mississippi Valley State in a weekend series starting tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Moore-Kittles Field. The Rattlers (6-16, 0-3) are looking to end their nine-game losing skid seeking their first win since March 6 against Ball State.
Last Time Out
The Rattlers are coming off back-to-back losses to the North Florida Ospreys, falling 8-7 in a make-up game and 10-3 in a scheduled contest the same day. Despite the Rattlers woes, they're getting solid production from first basemen Grant Rowell, leading the team with 12 RBIs and tying Ty Hanchey and Joseph Pierini with 21 hits. Benjamin Krizen has a 1-0 record on the mound but leads the pitching staff with three saves. He has only allowed six runs and has a WHIP of 1.30.
Scouting The Diamond Devils
Mississippi Valley State is coming off two walk-offs to win their series over Alabama A&M, with the second one a come-from-behind victory down two in the ninth. The Diamond Devils have a .500 record at 6-6-1 through 13 games. Collectively, they have a batting average of .266 and a slugging percentage of .356. Individually, they are led by their catcher Jan Tolentino, who is batting a .324 average. Outfielder Narvin Booker also guides them, with 51 at-bats and 16 hits. On the mound, Hunter Stallings pitched a season-high five innings and six whiffs while surrendering only three earned runs. Stallings leads the team with 15 strikeouts and has the team's lone save with one.
