Rattlers Sixth Inning Struggles Leads to Loss at #3 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Florida A&M softball played phenomenal for the first 5.5 innings at third-ranked Florida State as they held a 3-2 lead but allowed six runs in the bottom of the sixth to lose 8-3.

The Rattlers opened the game up with a quick 2-run home run from Destiny Cuevas to give the Rattlers a 2-0 lead. Then in the bottom of the first, the Rattlers got out of a jam as the bases were loaded, and Florida State singled into their player for the final out.

Cuevas scored her second run of the game as MeAsia Armstrong singled down the left-field line to give the Rattlers a 3-1 lead. The Seminoles scored their second run in the bottom of the fourth before the Rattlers closed the inning with a double play. Two innings later, the Rattlers struggled to get outs as the Seminoles scored six runs to take their first lead of the game.

In the Rattlers' final at-bats, they had three straight outs to end the game.

The Rattlers travel to Montgomery this weekend for the HBCU Tournament as they will play South Carolina State twice, Grambling State, and Alabama A&M.
