Rattlers Go Winless in Gainesville Facing Top-25 Teams

GAINESVILLE, Fla. | Florida A&M softball traveled to Gainesville to compete in Florida's T-Mobile Tournament but returned to Tallahassee winless after facing some of the toughest teams in the nation.
 
Game One | FAMU 0, Louisville 10
 
The Rattlers opened the weekend with a Friday afternoon game versus Louisville. The Rattlers kept it a one-run game through three innings until the Cardinals had a 3-run fourth and a 6-run fifth inning. 
 
Game Two | FAMU 2, Villanova 6
 
The Rattlers started hot, scoring the first two runs of the game as Destiny Cuevas doubled to center field as Nyah Morgan scored the game's opening run. Brandice Boatwright hit a single in the next at-bat to drive in Cuevas. The Rattlers maintained a 2-1 lead for the first half of the game, but Villanova had a hot third inning scoring four runs and added a run in the fifth to win 6-2.
 
Game Three | FAMU 1, #14 Duke 13
 
The Rattlers fell into a hole early, allowing the Blue Devils to score five runs through the first two innings. In the top of the third, Jania Davis reached first on a fielder's choice and took advantage by stealing second, third, and scoring home off a throwing error. The Blue Devils had an eight-run third inning to take a 13-1 lead.
 
Game Four | FAMU 1, #14 Duke 7
 
The Rattlers had another opportunity to place a top-15 team in the nation and fell 6-0 through three and a half innings. In the bottom of the third, Destiny Cuevas hit her second RBI on the weekend as she singled to left field and drove in Mia Blasingane. The Rattlers allowed another run in the top of the fifth falling behind 7-1.
 
Game Five | FAMU 0, #4 Florida 8
 
The Rattlers faced a top-five team in the Florida Gators and was held scoreless while allowing eight runs. The Rattlers had two hits as Nyah Morgan singled in the first and MeAsia Armstrong doubled in the top of the fifth.
 
The Rattlers will face another top-five team Wednesday, February 23, as the Rattlers travel across the tracks to play Florida State at 6 p.m. Eastern.
