Rattler VB Improves to .500; Now 8-0 in SWAC Play

ITTA BENA, Miss. | Florida A&M volleyball (11-11) improved to .500 on the season in a straight-set victory over Mississippi Valley State Saturday (Oct. 12). The team is now 8-0 in its Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule and working 20 straight wins over league opponents.

Dominique Washington and Emerald Jacobs finished with 10 kills each, while Irem Ucar added 22 assists, eight digs, and a pair of service aces. Nina Sharpton also recorded 14 assists, eight assists, and two aces.

FAMU 3, MVSU 0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-12)

The Rattlers required just over an hour to put away MVSU. The visitors had already surpassed 20 points in the opening set before the Devilettes could notch 10, and when there was a brief question as to who would take set two, FAMU responded with four straights to take a 17-14 edge. It remained ahead from there (and never trailed despite a few early ties in the third).

The Rattlers have swept seven opponents this season, and now seek their first home win. They play host to Bethune-Cookman Friday (Oct. 21). Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
