ATLANTA, Ga. | Former Florida A&M standout offensive lineman Nathaniel "Nate" Newton will be part of the 2022 Black College Football Hall of Fame Class announced today.
Newton played at Florida A&M from 1979-1982 and earned All-MEAC in 1980. In 1983, Newton went undrafted and signed with the Washington Football Team. He played for the USFL's Tampa Bay Bandits the following two years. After the USFL folded, Newton found his way back to the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent most of his career (1986-98). During his time in Dallas, Newton went to six Pro Bowls (1992-1996, 1998), was named to the All-Pro Team twice (1994, 1995), and won three Super Bowls (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX). Newton spent his final season with the Carolina Panthers (1999) before retiring.

The Black College Football Hall of Fame was established in October 2009 to honor the greatest football players and coaches from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Its trustees are football legends Mel Blount, James Harris, Willie Lanier, Art Shell, and Doug Williams. The Black College Football Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Shack Harris & Doug Williams Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization.
The Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) soon will have a permanent home at the Pro Football Hall of Fame (PFHOF) to tell the story of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
