Rattlers Back Above .500 Following Tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. | Florida A&M volleyball split their two matches yesterday to finish the weekend 2-1. Day two began with a close 3-2 win versus Idaho State before dropping their final match versus College of Charleston 3-1.

vs. Idaho State (24-26, 25-23, 25-13, 19-25, 15-5)

The Rattlers opened the match, dropping a close first set 24-26 as there were 14 ties and six lead changes throughout the set. Following the tight first set, the Rattlers would handle set two, winning 25-23, and held the lead the entire set. Idaho State took an early lead in set three, but the Rattlers would take the lead early and dominate the third set, winning 25-13. The Rattlers would drop the fourth set 19-25 before finishing off Idaho State 15-5 to win the match.

Dominique Washington put on another dominant performance as she recorded 27 kills and 20 digs. Emerald Jacobs added ten kills for the Rattlers. Jessa Long was the top defender, recording 31 digs. Irem Ucar continued setting up her teammates, recording 49 of the team's 57 assists.

vs. College of Charleston (19-25, 19-25, 25-20, 16-25)

College of Charleston started hot, taking the first two sets with the same score of 19-25. The Rattlers avoided the sweep when a kill by Dominique Washington kickstarted an 8-0 run by the Rattlers to take a 24-18 lead during the fourth set, which Jasmine Robinson finished off with a kill to take the set 25-20. Florida A&M dropped the final set 16-25.

All-Tournament Team

After recording 26 and 27 kills in victories over Campbell and Idaho State, Dominique Washington made her third straight All-Tournament Team. Washington finished with 66 total kills through three games. Washington added 57 digs and two blocks over the weekend.

Irem Ucar made her second All-Tournament Team after setting a new season-high with 49 assists in the win versus Idaho State. Ucar added 36 and 38 assists to have an assists total of 123 over the weekend.
