Tallahassee, Fla. | Florida A&M registered a season-high 11 hits, as the Rattlers suffered a 13-4 loss to Mercer at Moore-Kittles Field on Tuesday.
Tucker Rayburn,
LJ Bryant and
Adam Haidermota put on solid performances at the plate for the Rattlers. Rayburn went 2-for-4 with an RBI and one run scored. Bryant, who leads the team with five doubles, added another one on Tuesday, punctuating a 2-for-4 outing with two RBI. Haidermota turned in a 2-for-3 performance.
The Rattlers drew first blood, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI single by
Grant Rowell.
Trailing 3-1, FAMU put another run on the board when Rayburn scored
Seyjuan Lawrence on a groundball to first base.
As hot as FAMU's bats were, Mercer's were even hotter, as the Bears churned out 13 runs on 19 hits. The Bears scored runs in seven consecutive innings, building a 13-2 lead heading into the ninth inning.
The Rattlers rounded out the scoring when Bryant smacked a 2-RBI double to right-centerfield to cut the Mercer's advantage to 13-4.
Josh Barr (0-2) was saddled with the loss, allowing six runs on ten hits with three walks and one strikeout.
