TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida A&M returns to Moore-Kittles Field to face Troy on Wednesday as they begin a nine-game home stand. FAMU was swept on the road over the weekend by MEAC foe North Carolina Central and have lost eight straight since starting 7-7 on the season. FAMU's offense went cold over the weekend as they only scored two runs in the three-game series in Durham.
The Trojans are 4-11 in their last 15 games and fell 8-1 to Jacksonville State on Tuesday night. Troy is led by Senior 1B Trevin Hall who leads Troy in batting average (.384), hits (33), doubles (6) and home runs (3). Troy's pitching staff comes in with a 4.67 ERA and a 2/1 strikeout to walk ratio with 147 strikeouts and 76 walks on the year.
Who's Hot The Last 5 Games
In the last five games SS AJ Elkins is hitting .353 (6-17) with two doubles, four walks and three RBI. C Robby Jolley is hitting .333 (3-9) with three runs scored, two walks, one hit-by-pitch and one stolen base.
Bullpen Holding Down the MEAC
The Rattlers are 4-5 in the MEAC and the FAMU bullpen has an ERA of 1.60 in conference play. The bullpen has also only allowed seven earned against conference opponents.
Getting Behind Early
In the 7-15 start to the season so far, it is easy to notice that getting behind early in the game is a big key to the losses. The Rattlers are being outscored 82-25 in the first three innings through 22 games and 79-12 in games lost.
