DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The FAMU Rattlers baseball team (17-40), bowed out of the 2011 MEAC Baseball Tournament after being defeated 11-1 by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (9-40).
The Rattlers managed just four hits in the game. The scarce hits would ultimately be the downfall of the Rattlers as they were unable to counter the production from UMES.

Jimmy Terrell,
Jackson Cannon and
Ryan Sheplak, were the only Rattlers to manage a hit in the game. Terrell would lead FAMU, scoring twice in the game.
Heath Blackburn, took the loss for the Rattlers. He went four innings, giving up 12 hits, seven runs, one walk and struck out seven.
Stephen Dollar came on in relief in the fifth inning. He allowed six hits, four runs and struck out one batter. Senior
Andre Dawson came in to close the game for FAMU, going two-thirds of an inning, and allowing no hits.
UMES centerfielder Tre'Von Johnson went a perfect five-for-five, scoring three runs. Luis Mena, went four-for-four, with four RBIs, including a home run. Elliot Alston went three-for-five for the Hawks. The Hawks' potent offense garnered 18 hits and 12 RBIs.
Jacob Foreman got the win for the Hawks. He pitched eight innings, allowed four hits, three runs and struck out six. Sean Woods and Karim Gonzalez combined for the final inning on the mound.
