Originally from Waldorf, MD the DMV area. Attending Bishop McNamara High School and a graduate of National Christian Academy in Washington, Maryland, Zenzele Apesemaka-Vital would later go on to play for notable AAU programs such as Team Takeover and Boo-Williams EYBL team.Â
Furthering her athletic and academic career, Apesemaka-Vital attended the University of Cincinnati as a student-athlete in the women’s basketball program. After a four-year collegiate career, having had an award named after her (Zenzele Award) for athletes demonstrating perseverance, integrity, and strength as well as earning numerous academic honors, graduating with a bachelor’s in Psychology in 22’ from Cincinnati. Zenzele joined the coaching staff from a student assistant to a graduate assistant for a single season (22’-23’). In this role, Zenzele managed player development, community service, skills, and development, and assisted in daily operations. Zenzele will be graduating with a master's degree in community psychology from UC in the Spring. Â
The summer before coming on as FAMU women’s basketball assistant coach, Zenzele worked for a basketball company called PGC (Point Guard College) as their mission is aligned with developing athletes for the college experience and leaving kids with a positive outlook on basketball. As a basket instructor, Zenzele traveled to five different states, impacting hundreds of kids on developing the intangibles of the game of basketball all while showing them what it means to give to the game you love so much. Joining Florida A&M University women’s basketball program, Zenzele Apesemaka-Vital brings over a level of expertise and focus in player skill development. Zenzele will serve as an assistant coach under the leadership of Bridgette Gordon in the 23-24 season.Â
