Rory Spencer joined the Rattlers in 2023 as an assistant coach on the men's basketball staff. Following the 2023-24 season, Spencer joined the women's basketball staff. 

Before joining Florida A&M, Spencer spent two seasons at Chattanooga State (2021-23). Spencer was pivotal in the Tigers' 26-6 win in 2022-23, the most wins in program history. Spencer developed Scooter Williams and Kyshawn Devlin, both named to the TJCCA All-Conference Team.
 
Before Chattanooga State, Spencer worked as a player development trainer from 2015-22 and with the Atlanta Hawks as a basketball development coach from 2015-22.
 
Spencer played professionally overseas from 2011-15 after playing at Georgia Southern from 2009-11. Spencer holds the single-season blocks record with 62 blocks during the 2009-10 season. Spencer is also a USA Basketball certified coach.
