Andonte Gennie

Andonte Gennie joined the Rattlers in July 2023 as the associate head coach.

In Gennie's first season with the Rattlers, he helpedĀ lead the team to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament for the first time in program history after finishing the season with a 9-21, 8-10 record. Gennie also coached starting point guard Ahriahna Grizzle, who was named the SWAC Player of the Year and was on the All-SWAC First Team after averaging 18.4 points per game and 2.97 assists per game.

Gennie has an impressive track record, having coached at Crossroad Academy Charter School, where he led the basketball program to its first state tournament in school history in 2019 and Tallahassee Godby High School, his alma mater. He also led his Godby High School team to its first district championship since 2015. Additionally, Mr. Gennie has coached AAU girls basketball for the past six summers.Ā

Mr. Gennie's passion for basketball was sparked during his college years at Georgia Southern University, where he graduated in 2007 with a BA in Recreation, Community and Leisure. He was a two-time All-Southern Conference honoree and finished his collegiate career with 1,288 points. After college, Mr. Gennie played overseas basketball for six years in countries such as Germany, Kosovo, Hungary, and Romania. During his six-year professional career, he was a four-time all-star. Upon returning to the United States, he earned his master's degree from Grand Canyon University in Secondary Education in 2017.Ā

When Mr. Gennie is not busy coaching or playing basketball, he enjoys spending quality time with his two beautiful daughters and working with youth.Ā
