Gene Granger played at Florida High and Tallahassee Community College before transferring to Charleston Southern where he was a three-year letterman for the Buccaneers.

He began his coaching career in 2003 as an assistant at Florida Southern College, first as an Assistant College and then Head High School coach, including four seasons at Florida A&M DRS where he led his team to three Florida High School Athletic Association State Final Four appearances and most recent BIG BEND 2023 Coach of the Year.

In addition, his coaching experience, Gene has done skill development and strength training and was the first General Manager, and Athletic Director at the DME Sports in Daytona. Gene is a current member of USA Basketball, Jr. NBA and the Recruiting Manager of HSRECRUITING.
Academically, Gene is a certified Secondary Instructor in the State of Florida and currently in the first season as the Men’s Assitant Coach at Florida A&M University.

Prior to moving to the college level Gene spent nine years as the Head of Boys Basketball at Maclay College Preparatory School. Gene has held memberships of the National Association Speed Explosion and International Sports Science Association.

He and his wife Lindsey have two young sons, Carter (Eleven) and Cameron (Six).
