Billy Rolle joined the Florida A&M football staff in 2018 following an illustrious head coaching career, leading multiple Miami high school teams to state championships. Rolle serves as the assistant head coach and defensive backs coach.

Rolle, a native of Miami, had a stellar career as a Rattler defensive back under College Football Hall of Fame member, head coach Rudy Hubbard from 1980-1984.

The Coral Gables High School graduate accepted a scholarship to pursue his collegiate career at FAMU, where he graduated in 1984 with a B.S. in Physical Education. He went on to play in the United States Football League (USFL) and for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

The Miami native made his mark in historic fashion as a high school head coach in his hometown. During his record-setting career, he earned the distinction of being the only coach to win state championships in football at three different high schools.

Rolle developed multiple division I and NFL players while coaching in Miami. Teddy Bridgewater, Amari Cooper and Jacory Harris are a few of the standout athletes to excel with the propulsion of his tutelage.

Rolle has won a total of four state championships. He led Northwestern to state titles in 1998 and 2007. The 2007 championship with Harris at the helm also resulted in a national championship. Rolle led Killian to its lone state title in 2004. His record-setting championship came when Southridge won the 2016 FHSAA state championship, making it the third different team he led to titles. He also participated in Northwestern’s first state championship as defensive coordinator in 1995.
