FAMU Receives Donation from Urban Golf Foundation

Urban Golf Weekend supports Rattlers Golf

MIAMI – The Urban Golf Foundation presented a $15,000 donation to the Florida A&M University Men's Golf program on Saturday, Sept. 5, during the Urban Golf Weekend, held at Miami Beach Golf Club in Miami Beach, Florida.

The donation is intended to support the development of FAMU's student-athletes, with funds designated for the purchase of launch monitors – technology used to analyze swing mechanics and ball flight data to improve player performance.

"We want to thank Clifton Addison and the Urban Golf Weekend on their kind donation to the FAMU men's golf team," expressed FAMU Men's Golf Head Coach Mike Rice. "The donation will help us purchase launch monitors that will assist with the development of our student athletes. Having access to this technology will only benefit our program for years to come."

The presentation took place as part of Urban Golf Weekend; an event held in Miami that brings together golf enthusiasts and supporters of collegiate golf programs.

"Urban Golf Weekend was created to do more than celebrate the game, it's about opening doors," stated Clifton Addison, UGW Founder. "Golf has always been a bridge, and through this initiative, we're ensuring that young people of color have access to opportunities that go far beyond the course."

FAMU Men's Golf begins the 2026 fall campaign September 7, as the Rattlers travel to compete in the Folds of Honor competition in Grand Haven, Michigan, which will be broadcast live on the Golf Channel through September 9.

About Urban Golf Foundation
Urban Golf Weekend (UGW) exists to create impactful and engaging experiences that celebrate culture, build community, and introduce more people to the game of golf. Our mission is to make golf more accessible, more inclusive, and more reflective of the world we live in. By creating meaningful experiences and fostering authentic connections, UGW blends sport, culture, and community in a way that welcomes newcomers while energizing those already in the game. We're reimagining golf as a space where everyone can belong, grow, and thrive. This isn't just about expanding the game, it's about opening doors. We're here to grow the game and bring more people in, one weekend at a time.
