FAMU Sweeps AAMU and Climbs to No. 3 in SWAC Standings

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Florida A&M baseball swept Alabama A&M in a three-game series at Bulldog Field this week, outscoring the Bulldogs 25-13 across the three contests to push its Southwestern Athletic Conference record to 19-8. The Rattlers hammered out 35 hits over the series, received contributions up and down the lineup, and got consistent pitching performances to close out their best stretch of the 2026 SWAC campaign.

Game 1 | Thursday, May 7 — Florida A&M 9, Alabama A&M 8
FAMU rallied from a 6-1 deficit to steal the opener, 9-8, in a back-and-forth nine-inning affair. The Rattlers trailed by five entering the fourth inning before exploding for six runs on seven hits in their half of the frame. William Brown delivered the decisive blow with a three-run home run that put Florida A&M ahead for good, and Jackson McKenzie added a two-run shot moments later to make it 7-6.

McKenzie finished 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Brown went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI. Jay Campbell added a 3-for-5 effort with a double and an RBI. Clark Lincoln (2-1) earned the win, allowing three runs over four innings of relief. Ryan Young closed it out with 3.2 scoreless frames, striking out five to preserve the victory.

Game 2 | Saturday, May 10 (Game 1) — Florida A&M 6, Alabama A&M 2
Caleb Granger was sharp on the mound and the Rattler offense cashed in at the right moments as FAMU took the second game, 6-2. Granger worked four innings, striking out six, before Tanner Walker entered and navigated three frames to secure his second save of the season.

Jordan Brown went 3-for-3 to pace the offense, while Jay Campbell delivered a two-RBI double in the fifth inning to break open a one-run game. Josue Figueroa provided the exclamation point with a solo home run in the sixth. Jackson McKenzie added an RBI single as part of a 10-hit Rattler attack that consistently put pressure on Alabama A&M starter Anthony Mateo, who was tagged for six runs over six innings.

Game 3 | Saturday, May 10 (Game 2) — Florida A&M 10, Alabama A&M 3
Florida A&M put together its most complete performance of the series in the finale, scoring in five different innings to win 10-3. The Rattlers erupted for three runs in the first inning on a Caden Kresak triple and a Jay Campbell sacrifice fly, then added two more in the second and never looked back.

Colton Ryals delivered the signature moment of the game — and perhaps the series — with a go-ahead three-run homer in the ninth inning to cap the scoring at 10-3. Jackson McKenzie homered and doubled, driving in two runs. Ethan Miller also went deep for FAMU, while William Brown was 3-for-5 with an RBI to anchor the lineup.

Garrett Workman (4-4) earned the win, allowing three runs over five innings. Jesus Campa followed with four scoreless frames, retiring all 13 batters he faced and finishing the Bulldogs off in style.
