TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M's softball team capped off a dominant three-game sweep of Mississippi Valley State on Saturday, outscoring the Lady Devilettes 26-0 across the series at Wiggins Field. The Rattlers improved to 14-12 overall and 5-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while Mississippi Valley State fell to 1-14 and 0-6 in conference action.

Game 1: Florida A&M 10, Mississippi Valley State 0 (6 innings)
Hughes (6-3) was dominant in the circle, tossing five scoreless innings with six strikeouts and allowing just two hits, as the Rattlers cruised to a 10-0 run-rule victory in the series opener.
Florida A&M broke on top early, plating two runs in the first inning on RBI doubles from Brown and Spooner. The Rattlers extended the lead with two more runs in the third, as Brown knocked in DeLeslin with a double before
Jordan Douglas added a sacrifice fly.
FAMU put the game away with a five-run sixth inning capped by a three-run home run from Spooner — her first of the season. DeLeslin went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Brown finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Madison Bruce took the loss for Mississippi Valley State, surrendering all 10 runs on 13 hits over 5.2 innings.
Game 2: Florida A&M 8, Mississippi Valley State 0 (5 innings)
Smith (4-3) was nearly untouchable in the nightcap, striking out seven over four shutout innings as the Rattlers run-ruled the Lady Devilettes again, 8-0 in five innings.
Florida A&M wasted little time after a scoreless first frame. Brown's RBI double in the second got the Rattlers on the board, and they broke it open with three runs in the third on a
Kiara Beltre triple and a two-run effort from Brown and Spooner. FAMU added four more in the fourth, highlighted by a two-RBI single from DeLeslin.
Makayla Register earned the save, striking out two in a perfect fifth inning. Ashtyn Clark took the loss for Mississippi Valley State, allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits.
Game 3: Florida A&M 8, Mississippi Valley State 0 (6 innings)
Smith (5-3) picked up where she left off a day earlier, firing four more scoreless innings with two strikeouts as FAMU completed the sweep Saturday morning.
The Rattlers got on the board in the first inning when
Neriah Lee tripled and scored on a Mississippi Valley State error. After adding a run in the third on a DeLeslin double, FAMU blew the game open with a four-run fourth inning.
Beltre delivered a two-run double, DeLeslin hit a sacrifice fly and Brown added an RBI before Spooner capped the frame with a solo home run — her second of the series.
Freshmen pitcher
Sariah Espada came on in relief and tossed two scoreless innings to close it out. Bruce took the loss, dropping to 0-6 on the season, before giving way to Clark.
Florida A&M continues conference play next weekend at Alabama State.
