TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --Florida A&M got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Rattlers put nine runs on the board and knock off the Central Conn. State Blue Devils 9-4 Sunday.
Jason McKenzie (1-0) started on the mound and picked up the win for Florida A&M (3-8). The southpaw went three innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out three. Jesus Campa also made an impact on the mound for the Rattlers, starting the ballgame and throwing four innings, giving up one run on two hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
At the plate, the Rattlers were paced by Justen Crews, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a double, two walks and three RBIs. Josue Figueroa put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double, three walks and two RBIs. Ethan Miller also helped out for Florida A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 4-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Florida A&M's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a three-run double off the bat of Crews and a two-run double from Miller.
The Rattlers then held the Blue Devils scoreless before expanding their lead in the eighth inning. The Florida A&M offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Figueroa, which brought the Rattlers lead to 9-4.
